Anne Frank Book Club Response

I could connect this book to one of my cousin because she has a diary and there she writes a lot of things that happens to her. Also she is like Anne Frank because they are both teenage girls and both of them do what they want to do and get in trouble with their parents. I could text-to-world because many people like doing a lot of things that their parents do not approves and then they get in trouble and there is popular people like Anne Frank that writes down about their whole entire life and the bad things and good things that happens to them. I disagree with Anne Frank because she does not listens to what her mother says and then something really bad could happen to her because she did not listened to her parents. Some parents knows what is good for their children. I would listen to my parents because I know that they are just trying to protect me and to help me. Anne Frank is a popular girl and she is a bad girl as well because she does not listen to their parents but she is good too though. But I really liked this book because it talks about a young girl and she writes in this diary about her whole life and also she writes almost every single thing that happens to her.

Alice Walker

Alice Walker started writing in between the 1960s. Three major event that took place during the time period was the civil war, the war at Vietnam, and the year that Abraham Lincoln was murdered. This time period influenced their poetry because many things were happening. For example, so many wars that some people got depressed. I think that the background has influenced their poetry because she uses the color purple and the color purple for me is depressing and she also wrote many poems that were depressing. If I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Alice Walker the poet I would ask her why does she write many depressing poems and why did she put her background purple.

sonnet poem 123

The theme of the sonnet is to remember her for when she go far away. The clues that gave away the theme was that in one line of the sentence it says remember me when I am gone away. This message apply and connect to my own life because sometimes I go far away from my family in vacation and I sometimes tell them to remember me. I could connect this poem to the ones I have read because many poems are sonnets like the one I read and most of the poem talks about remembering someone.

Homework! Oh, Homework!

The examples of the Hyperbole that the poet writer uses are "I'd rather take bath with a man-eating shark or wrestle a lion on the dark". This means that he rather do all this examples instead of doing the homework the teacher assigns him. I think that the author uses hyperbole this way is because he wants to tell people that he rather do worst things instead of doing his homework. You could tell that the one that wrote this poem hates homework.

Negro

The mood of this poem is that he is mad. I know that this is the mood because in the poem he says everything bad that they do to him. For example according to the article it says "The Belgians cut off my hands in the Congo". That's why I think he is mad because nobody would like other people to cut their hands off and more if you are a slave. Also in the other line of the poem it says "Caesar told me to keep his door-steps clean". Nobody will like being anybody slaves but in the past it was like that.

Bronx Masquerade

What I think of Chankara is that she is a girl that gets hit a lot from her boyfriend. I learned about that she is scared of her boyfriend that is why she gets hit a lot from him. The inference that I could make about this poem is that Chankara's sister is letting Chankara's boyfriend hit her because it Chankara says that her sister told her that he would not hit her again but he keeps on hitting her. The inference that I could make about Chankara is that she is sooner or later is going to the cops because there comes a time that people get tired of others that are hitting them and then they go to the cops. I could connect this to the world because some people especially ladies get hit a lot and then there comes a time that they get so tired and mad that they go to the cops to report the one that is hitting her they also could end up being murdered if they do not report their abuse. The poetry reveals about Chankara that she is a frightened girl and that maybe she needs help but she have to stand up for herself not for nobody else. The bet word that describes Chankara is frightened because she is so scared that her boyfriend hit her again. I think the meaning of this poem is to not let nobody hit you that even your boyfriend because then they could end up killing you so you have to act now before it is too late.

Poetry Response

    • The inference that I could make about this poem is that this man was a slave and that he was a Negro from when black people were slaves. The word that best describes that the poet is feeling is sad because if you were in the situation that he was in then you won't feel really happy about being a slave. Also he is feeling sad because the people that haded slaves are treating him like if he is not a human being because they even cut his hands off.
The meaning of the poem is that this slave was a black man that suffered too many things including that they cut his hands off in the Congo and also they haded racism in the time that he live in. I connect this to a movie that I saw that there was this slave that was black and they treated him like he is not a person like us. They cut his feet because he tried to run away and he tried to escape many times because he did not wanted to live in this place that people treated him really bad.
